Some Gorilla Photos
I took these about a week ago at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. They had a big exhibit with 4 or 5 gorillas that I spent a long time watching and photographing. They have such character and show so much emotion so I wanted to share a few pictures with you. Let me know what you think.

Great pictures, Alec!
They definitely manage to capture those emotions, and both the focus and the overall composition make it look like you were standing right next to those fellows while taking your photographs.
Thanks, Ben. I was pretty far away but I was using a zoom lens and it allowed me to get some close shots.
Wow!!! Beautiful pictures!! Thanks for posting them!!
Thanks for your comment, Grace. I’m glad you like them.
Super pictures, I love the last one where the gorilla is looking at you, the dof of the photo is great.
Lucinda, thank you for your comment. That last one is also one of my favorites. I just subscribed to your blog, by the way.
Hi Alec - thanks for subscribing!
The pictures turned out great.
I found that the gorillas looked sad in their enclosures there, but maybe that is just the way that they are.
Lauren, most captive animals I’ve seen do look sad and I can see why. Even though it doesn’t compare to the wild, I was satisfied with the enclosures there. Thanks for your comment.
Really nice photos. Most zoo photos just look like sad, lethargic animals in cages. Yours look quite natural. I was looking for some images of apes to sketch from, just to improve my understanding of ape anatomy. That might sound kind of strange, but apes show up quite often in my doodles. Thanks for posting these.
Kurt, I’m glad you like them. Doodling apes isn’t very common, but I can see where you’re coming from. I’ve always been fascinated by primates, too. I hope you’re doodles can benefit from my photos. Thanks for your comment.
Great pics… very professional photograpy!
Thanks a lot, John.
