My Abstract Drawing

My Abstract Drawing

Those nice blue lines and the three holes really show the little time on my hands. It was done in my Algebra 2 notebook. During lectures and whenever I was done with my assignments, I’d grab my lucky pen and add another swirl or two.

Sadly, almost all of my drawings are literally on the side of my schoolwork. Maybe I’m subconsciously hoping for extra credit, but I think I’m going to stick with my “lack of time” excuse.

I crossed my fingers that the picture wouldn’t pick up all my mistakes. No erasable utensil was used, so I’m trying not to be too hard on myself, though. When I finished I made a vector of it in Illustrator (which was forgiving with my stray marks and such) and used it on my header (top of this page). You might have noticed the similarity.

I was asked many times by impatient classmates when I’d finally finish it, well, here you go. Feedback is appreciated; leave a comment letting me know what you think.

    Hey Alec,
I do alot of the same kind of art, mostly drawing it started with doodles but im into working alot bigger now, I go to a college called NorthPark and am an art major, i worked in tattooing for a while but only drawing never actually tatooing. I really have no clue where to go after school or what to do with my art. Just intrested in how you got started, i dident look through alot of the website yet, but i really like the kind of work your producing.
    Thanks,
    Chris Hamming

Chris, I’ve been drawing my whole life. (But really who hasn’t?) As I’ve mentioned in some of my posts, I hardly ever “draw” anymore. Most of my artistic work is a doodle or a little sketch somewhere. To tell you the truth, I don’t know what I’m going to do with my art either.

I’d love to see some of your work, leave another comment with a link or email me on the contact page.

    Hey again,
Just like to say i have been doodling and drawing my whole life (well, i’m still only 17), but my lucky break in life came from my art and doodles.

I was lucky enough to be employed by a renowned local web design company, all because they liked my drawings! Not too shabby!

    Anyways, seeya around.

    Keep doodlin’,
    Jay

Some good work Alec, hand drawn is the way to go. i like your style of work. I also produce work that comes from doodles but I’m starting to to then bring these doodles into illustrator and work on them further. here is a link to the sort of work I’m producing at the moment: http://www.dot-design.co.uk/scribblesdoodlesillustrations-whatever-youd-like-to-call-them/

They look great. Very “doodlistic” but still look nice and polished.

I hadn’t come across your blog before, so I browsed a little bit and ended up subscribing. Keep up the good work.
